Depending on the section of the street, there is sufficient room for tree pits up to 7ft wide to add additional buffer between the sidewalk and the throughway.

Chicanes could also be used in strategic spots along the roadway to further enhance safety.



Similar treatments would also be applicable to making Stypmann safer. Since the sidewalk already exists in a location that would not support trees between the southern exposure (due to the power lines just south of the sidewalk), this configuration will provide less shade to people walking but would increase the buffer between the travel-way and the sidewalk.
